Who Pays

In the state of Florida no matter what your comprehensive deductible is, the insurance will pay for any piece of glass needing replacement on your vehicle. This is a state law.

Out of pocket replacements if you only carry liability insurance depends on your year make and model of your vehicle and what sensors it may have.

As far as auto glass goes, Florida as a state has a standard insurance coverage. The coverage for auto glass replacements fall under the comprehensive coverage portion of the personal auto policy (PAP). This means that for windshield, back glass, door glass or quarter glass replacements, you can benefit from your comprehensive coverage portion and get it replaced without having to bear the full price, which is needless to say quite expensive. The insurance will pay for any glass on your vehicle that needs a replacement.

Furthermore, in the state of Florida, there is also a state-mandated waiver for deductibles for windshields. Therefore, if you have a PAP, then the deductible amount you select under the comprehensive coverage will be waived for the loss of the windshield and apply for any other car window replacement.
